Data Warehouse and Metrics Reporting System — Alaska Railroad Corporation

The Alaska Railroad Corporation's Data Warehouse and Metrics Reporting system is used primarily by senior management. It provides advanced reporting capabilities, including graphs and charts, that provide business intelligence from data collected via ARRC's enterprise systems. While the system provided the necessary information, performance was unacceptable. RDI worked with ARRC IT to tune the system to improve performance.

Cost of Service Studies Data Warehouse — Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility

Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility (AWWU) performs cost of service studies (COSS) to justify maintaining rates at current levels or adjusting rates. These studies are often used in rate cases submitted to the Regulatory Commission of Alaska for approval.

The billing system is one of the major inputs to the utility's COSS. RDI performed a requirements analysis and determined that the live billing system did not maintain the historical data required. Consequently, we developed a data warehouse and the reports needed to support the utility's COSS model. This was a complex project, with years of historic data from 60,000 customers and participants from two divisions of AWWU in addition to RDI.

Data Warehouse — Alaska Fisheries Information Network (AKFIN)

AKFIN is part of the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission and is responsible for compiling, analyzing, and reporting on fisheries data. RDI has been providing support to AKFIN by developing a comprehensive fisheries data warehouse containing data from various agencies. In addition, we have assisted AKFIN by compiling data and generating reports on a broad range of issues. The data warehouse is developed using Oracle.

Data Warehouse Project — Chugach Electric Association

RDI assisted in the development of data models, interfaces, and procedures for the implementation of a data warehouse for this utility. The project entailed using an Oracle data warehouse database interfacing with PeopleSoft's General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Project Costing, Human Resources, and Payroll modules along with Inventory Management, Contract Management, and Purchasing modules.
